We need some cops over here in Hooterville
MH, you may as well give up on that course of action. If there is anything to be done about it, it would have to come from outside Riley County. Anything on 2 wheels is allowed to make any type of noise and drive any place they desire. I fail to understand why anything with 2 wheels is allowed to make 3 times the noise of a car or truck. Aftermarket exhaust doesn't mean it is a legal exhaust. Then again why is it that kids can drive motorized 2 wheel vehicles on a sidewalk when they are not legal to drive anywhere? Why is it I have to dodge bicycles flying down the side walk while I am mowing my yard is another north face clearance online good question. Who is going to be a fault when I am run over by some (not a child) older person flying down the walk? At what point is the lack of enforcement as much at fault as the guilty party? Loud speakers in cars that can be heard three blocks away is a disturbance, but for sure not it Riley County or most definitely Manhappiness. Casement is becoming a raceway with a poor surface. People should not have to complain to get enforcement, take phones for instance. I would propose raising the fine to $400. First offence, no questions asked. Your caught pay the fine. But wait north face jacket clearance maybe that would not work either it would require enforcement. Never mind this is after all Manhappiness, besides it spring so your quietude is gone, It's all about who can make the most noise.
I, too, cannot understand the lack of enforcement when it comes to motorcycle noise. We have an extremely loud one or two at the apartments across the street from our home. They seem to think everyone on the block needs to be woken at all hours of the night.
As Manhattan has grown, I have seen much less enforcement of traffic laws and signficantly more reckless and inattentive driving. The cell phone ban is a joke! Driver after driver is seen talking on their phone. I do understand there are more serious tasks that need RCPD attention. Yet, I do believe we will see an increase in traffic crashes and injuries if the current mindset of drivers is allowed to continue.
I drive 30,000 miles/year, through metroplexes and through rural towns. I still firmly believe the most difficult and dangerous place to drive in Manhattan, Kansas. We have the geriatrics, the farmers, the college kids, the military, and the rest of the population all moving at a different pace. If I were King, drivers would be cited for not signaling lane changes and turns. They would be cited for talking on their cell phones. They would be cited for just being stupid and/or arrogant. But, as this City Commission has almost suggested nonenforcement of fireworks ordinances and nonenforcement of cell phone use and nonenforcement of public intoxication ordinances I don know why RCPD would spend any time citing drivers.
I AM a big fan of RCPD. I do believe Director Schoen has done a commendable job keeping us safe. The Department workload has mushroomed as this community population has continued with its dynamic climb. Their hands are full with burglaries, rapes, robberies, homicides, etc. A few noisy motorcycles must seem like potatoes to those working the latest drug bust. Yet, ordinances and laws are on the books to be enforced and should be. All I would ask is that some additional attention be given to traffic issues, hoping we all will be safer as we experience the adventure of motoring in Manhattan.
